Getting to Know the TARC

For those who do not know, the Trail Animal Running Club (TARC) has exploded with membership and race options for New England trail and ultra runners over the past two years. While this excites me, it also leaves me with a lot of homework to do. See, I check out Ultra Signup, Facebook, Strava, and all the local bloggers on a daily basis. I like to know who is running fast, who has been training vigorously and who is putting it all on the line for their next race. And do you know what I find: more and more runners that I do not know. That is a great thing in itself, but on the other hand, it leaves me with much work to be done!

On the TARC Facebook page recently, Gray Mc, a fellow TARC member, asked what we did for work. The longest comment string in the history of TARC occurred! It was great to see what we all do to support our running habits.

There was also the post started on the TARC Facebook page asking members what their first ultra was and how it went (thank you, Jennifer Provins Treacy). After reading the 50 some odd answers, I knew I needed to know more about these people.

So...I've decided to spice up the old blog and sprinkle in some interviews with members of the club. I figure this initial post will be a great way to see who we all want to hear about, so comment away. I've already got one of the head honchos of TARC up to bat and his responses are PRICELESS!!

Stay tuned for the first installment of "Getting to know the TARC".

  1. This is a very cool idea - I'm looking forward to it, as I have also been really impressed with all the folks from TARC. It really is going to be cool to get to know more of these people better. Needless to say, I'm really fascinated by the upcoming interview . . .
