Decided to run somewhere new this morning. Kate and I had explored the Wachusett Reservoir fire roads in the past but I have not run them in the winter. Going in, I did not know what to expect. Would they be packed out? Plowed? No idea.
Turns out quite a few people walk these fire roads. Many do not use snowshoes, meaning the place was a mess. I did hit a few roads that were plowed and with the thaw, dirt showed through. It was nice to be out in the woods on a dirt path (albeit road) again.
Some decent short climbs and great views along the reservoir. Have to remember this one come spring, summer and fall.
